Looking Ahead to 2025: Big Top Returns
2024: A Year for the Books!
What a year it's been! We had the joy of touring four beautiful Chicago parks and, for one magical weekend, bringing our beloved Little Big Top out of retirement for some unforgettable shows.
What’s New with Midnight Circus?
You guessed it—we’re working on a brand-new show! Our goal is to bring the Little Big Top back to its full glory and share its wonder with as many Chicago communities as possible. While we’ve been incredibly grateful for the open-air performances over the last few years, which allowed us to continue touring and connect with our audiences during challenging times, there’s truly no better way to experience the circus than under the Big Top. We are so thankful for our talented cast members over the years who made those open-air shows unforgettable, and now we’re absolutely thrilled to return to the tent and bring the full magic of the circus back to Chicago!
What’s the Cast Up To?
Our talented cast members come from all over the world and stay busy with exciting creative projects when the tour wraps up. Ezra, our favorite hat juggler, and Aviva, the incredible acrobat, are hard at work bringing their swing dance-inspired show Jitter to life ADD IN BLURB/MORE INFO ONCE EZRA SENDS IT OVER
Jitter is an immersive and daring experience that explores human connection through the lens of play, dance, and circus. Designed as a multi-step interactive journey—including a performance, workshop, dance party, and eco-friendly bicycle tour—this project goes beyond the stage to create a space for collective expression and reflection on social roles and power dynamics. The performance ( 30 minutes) questions traditional roles: who leads, who follows, who lifts, who flies? By fluidly exchanging these positions without judgment or stereotype, it invites the audience to feel the power of collaboration and the freedom found in reimagining traditional gender roles, while embracing the joy of collective movement. This comprehensive project aims to liberate the body, awaken intuition, and strengthen community bonds through participatory experiences.
And The Circus Pups?
Our beloved circus pups, Rickie and Bobbie, continue spreading joy and positivity across Chicago. They're busy with Caines 4 Kindness, visiting schools, parks, and more, teaching children the power of patience, kindness, and positivity—both in dogs and humans alike! Our retired pup, Rosie Rae enjoys bathing in a sunbeam and demanding belly rubs from all who see her.
